General SLR Photography
This course is aimed at owners of SLR (DSLR) cameras or anyone thinking of buying one. Many people with SLR cameras under-utilize the capabilities of these cameras. In most cases, this is because they have just never managed to get round to figuring out what the different modes, functions and buttons are for. In fact, many SLR owners leave their cameras in the P-setting or Auto setting. Leaving it permanently in either of these modes is essentially operating the camera the same way as a compact camera.
This course will familiarize you with all the different modes and functions, explaining what each mode is for, why and when you use it and what effect this has on your photograph. Areas covered include basic and advanced exposure control, depth-of-field, focus options, full-frame vs APS-C, macro photography, equipment, accessories, filters ... etc.
While this course could be classified as a relatively advanced photography course, it has worked well for both enthusiastic beginners and seasoned photographers who have been over-reliant on automatic settings. Read more about this in our FAQ if you are unsure if the course is suitable for you.
