Block mounting is a technique for mounting photographic images on a substrate such as mount board, foam-core or MDF wood. We mount your images on 15mm thick MDF wood. The images are finished with a semi-gloss/lustre protective film on top although high gloss and ultra high gloss finishes are available on request.
The process from the customer's point of view is simple. You email the image in electronic format. We send the mounted image back to you in the post.
Styles
We offer three basic styles as can be seen in the illustrative sample images below:
Borderless - the image runs right up the edge of the
block.
Bordered - a border (normally white) is added around the image. We can add this for you free of charge. The cost of a bordered mount is based on the area of the image plus the border - e.g. an 8x6in image with a one inch border on all sides becomes a 10x8inch mount.
Wrapped - the edges of the image are wrapped around the edges of the block. For this style, you need considerable margins around the main subject in your image and no significant features should be near the edge of the image as these are 'lost' to the sides of the mount.

Pricing Information
The table below gives a list of sample sizes and associated pricing. However, custom sizes can be requested at no additional cost premium but with a slightly longer turnaround time. The typical turnaround time for images in our standard range of sizes up to 18x12inch in size is 10 days from receipt of the electronic image.
