Our Team
Peter Gorman is our lead trainer and photographer. Peter comes from a design
background in the field of digital imaging. As far back as 1984, he was
part of a small design team in TCD that developed one of the first
commercial industrial digital cameras. Since then he has continued to
work on the design of digital cameras and digital imaging equipment. He has
worked with companies ranging from small pioneering
imaging specialists such as Zandar (now part of Harris Broadcast) to large
multinational companies such as Philips where he spent several years as
a senior consultant in their International Technology Research Centre in
Belgium. While with Philips, he co-authored a best-selling technology book
(published by Prentice-Hall /Pearson) in the field of
integrated circuit design.
Since returning to Ireland in 2002, Peter has divided his time over a number of different but related training and design activities. In addition to establishing Living Images, he co-founded and became a director of Worldwide Connections, a Dublin-based IT and network training company established in 1998. During his time with them, Worldwide Connections ran in excess of 150 courses in 21 countries worldwide. Peter is also currently employed as a part-time lecturer in Limerick Institute of Technology on their video & sound and music technology degree programmes, where he teaches a course covering the physics of light, colour perception, lenses and other photography related topics.
Peter's training philosophy is evident in all of the courses he runs. “The key to successful training is pitching the material at an appropriate level for the intended audience. If it’s a non-technical audience, keep the technical content and jargon to a minimum. Training is about imparting knowledge, not showing off what you know.”
